Alright, now that I've had a little time to settle down about the Celtics being ousted from the playoffs it's now time to focus on what off season changes need to be made. First, in my opinion we need and needed a backup small foward and a different backup center besides Mikki Moore, he can go. What I think should happen is what I thought we should have done for the most part last off season, but just like the Celtics and a lot of Celts fans were saying, we didn't need to interupt the chemistry too much. I agreed, but now I think it needs to be changed...
Here is what I think we should do realistically:
We resign Stephon Marbury for veteran minimum (I think he'll be a lot better going through the preseason and given more time).
We resign either restricted free agent, Leon Powe or Big Baby and let one go. (I really like both, so it's really tough for me to choose which one stays or goes).
We really missed that James Posey guy, so now we sign who I thought we should have signed before the season and that is Matt Barnes. His game is almost identical to Posey's and he's a little younger and is a more energy guy. We sign him for part of the MLE and we now have a solid backup for Paul Pierce.
Now we trade Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine to Charlotte for Raja Bell. We let Eddie House go. Trading for Raja Bell gives us a solid lock down defender coming off the bench and Bell can also knock down that 3-point shot.
Lastly, we let Mikki Moore go also and sign maybe Drew Gooden or Kwame Brown (or someone else...these are my picks) for another part of the MLE. I know a lot of you are saying Kwame is a bust, but either way he is a big body and still an upgrade at backup center than what we have. Drew Gooden would be my first choice probably because he can be more of a contributor even though his natural position might be power forward.
After all this, Boston's roster would look like the following:
PG - Rajon Rondo, Stephon Marbury, Gabe Pruitt
SG - Ray Allen, Raja Bell, J.R. Giddens
SF - Paul Pierce, Matt Barnes, Bill Walker
PF - Kevin Garnett, Powe or Davis
C - Kendrick Perkins, Drew Gooden or Kwame Brown
This is exactly what I think should happen. It's realistic and it drastically improves our bench and defense. Please comment.

Another Close One

It was pretty much all Starbury in the fourth quarter of game 5 today that helped the Celtics in their come back win 92-88. He scored all of his 12 points in the last quarter and was almost looking like the old easy scoring Marbury. Boston had me scared once again though as they still struggled a little offensively. Rajon Rondo shot 3-12 and Ray Allen shot 3-11. I forgive Ray this time though because it was his 3-point shot that put Boston up by 1 after being down by 12 with about 3 minutes to go and they didn't look back the rest of the way. Not really much else to say about it except that Glen "Big Baby" Davis is playing like a beast! Hopefully he keeps this up the rest of the way and snatch this last win in Orlando so we can move on to the other beast...the Cavaliers.

Whew! Barely Made It 2-2

I'm not going to lie...game 4 almost had me scared that Boston might have to crawl out of a 3-1 deficit. Thank God for Big Baby's confidence in taking that HUGE shot. Come to think of it, Davis has been coming through pretty well in the playoffs this year taking over for the injured KG. Now, game 5 to me is a must win. It would be nice if Ray Allen could find his shot sometime in this series. He struggled again from behind the arc shooting 0-5. Every one else played solid...well, the rest of the starting lineup played solid anyway. The bench only had 2 points from Starbury. Let's just hope and pray that Perkins shoulder that he re-aggravated isn't serious and can get right back into play. Back to Boston for game 5...please don't scare me like that again, Celts.

Celtics vs Magic Game 1

First and foremost, welcome to my very first blog! Alright, now to game 1 of the Celtics vs Magic. I must say that even with this loss, I am still absolutely confident that the Celts will take this series. Even if I wasn't a Celts fan I would still say the same. Orlando, despite a horrible game from Ray Allen and his 1 for 7 three point shooting tragedy and an absent Kevin Garnett still only barely held on to their 28 point lead to pull the win off by only 5. With that said, Doc Rivers also should have kept Starbury in at the point as Rondo was struggling a little. Starbury came in and produced 8 points and 3 assists in 9 minutes! C'mon Doc! I understand we need Rondo in there, but at some point there has to be a coaching decision that needs to be made and I think Doc blew that one. All in all, if that's all that Orlando has to offer against the Celts on a bad night then I'm not too worried about them. I'm in no way underestimating the Magic I just feel more confident about this series than I did in the first round against the Bulls. Again, welcome and thanks for visiting my first blog. Now it's on to game 2!
